The Future of Work: Designing an Inquiry at the State level

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Using the morning plenary session as a jumping off point, we will identify and delve into the most critical and useful questions about what work and working will look like 20-25 years from now. The Open Society Foundation is at the beginning of a deep, year-long, multi-faceted inquiry into the future of work in the U.S., an effort aiming to address some of the big questions about the future of work that have not yet been able to be articulated or pursued by those most concerned about how trends in the economy, technology, demography and other domains will impact workers, women, communities of color, immigrants, and young people. This session is a first opportunity for EARN partners and participants to help shape the direction of this unique inquiry. Through this interactive session, OSF staff will be particularly focused on harnessing the insights, questions and perspectives EARN partners can offer, in order to make the project's outcomes relevant to state-based concerns about work and working (in the context of likely national trends and developments), and also to make the project responsive to the needs of those working for progress across the country. What will be our biggest challenges and opportunities for creating a better future for everyday workers? We invite you to help shape the direction and focus of the inquiry, and begin to provide valuable inputs to the process of answering those questions.
